The Sydney Group Binary Finary (Matt, Ricky Grant, Woody and Tony) opened their career with the one of the best trance songs ever – ‘1998’. It was initially released on Aquarius Records. Then, it was signed to EMI Records’ dance music label and Positiva Records. The track is the embodiment of the flooding, melodic trance that started the revolution in European clubs. ‘1998’ surprised dance floors, with its amazing harmony changes, heart-halting breakdown and sensational crescendos.
The track appears on various festivals and numerous outstanding DJs love it. For example, Paul Van Dyk (who remixed the track), Paul Oakenfold and Judge Jules. Positiva re-released the track as ‘1999’ in that year. It was a two-cd s album including remixes from Van Dyk, Matt Darey, Gouryella and Kaycee which had a huge succes and arrived at number 11 in the UK charts. Binary Finary performed live at various club occasions and festivals in 1998 and 1999. They were present at Glastonbury Festival, Cream’s Creamfields and in Ibiza.
